Stealing

The Law -

The term "steal" is defined in Section 209 of the Criminal Code. A person steals if they intended to keep the property permanently. Section 210 of the NT Criminal Code creates the offence.

Maximum Penalty - Stealing

Any person who steals and is guilty of a crime is liable if no other punishment is provided to prison for 7 years. If the thing stolen is a testamentary instrument, whether the testator is living or dead, or if the thing stolen has a value of $100,000.00 or more the offender is liable to imprisonment for 14 years.
